I still have a lot of Meccano parts in use. The gears were the easiest ones to come by in the 50s, and with the standard hole spacings it made things easy. A common usage is to drive a turntable on a model railway.
But don't forget TRIX, who had out a similar system, except that they used unpainted metal, and JUNEERO, where they supplied unperforated metal strips plus a hole-punching tool, so you could use whatever dimensions you wanted. |
