I ran into my my Michigan steel playing buddy Drew Howard when I performed at last month's Wheatland Music Festival (15,000 attendees... yikes!). He gave me a copy of his new CD 'Steels Heal The World'. I just got around to listening to it last night - sorry Drew, I've been busy lately.
Wow!
Drew Howard and Joe Wilson have teamed up with some of Michigan's finest musicians (and my pals) to create a steel guitar CD showcasing a wide variety of styles expertly played and recorded. This is not a "jam" disk. Drew and Joe don't just mindlessly jam over three chord songs and call it music. This is beautifully arranged and well thought out pieces.
The disk has acoustic and electric lap, pedal and resophonic steel guitars. Styles include, Country, Swing, Gospel and more.
Go here to listen to some samples.
Helping Drew and Joe on the disk and providing expert backup and vocals are my long time pals Rachael Davis and the ecclectic band Steppin' In It. I've performed with these guys many times and they are fantastic. Rachael... I've known since she was three years old. Now in her 20's she has matured into an excellent expressive vocalist.
Get this disk. It'll make you smile. _________________ Gerald Ross

There are some good numbers in this album.
My favorite was "When the Streetlights Fade." Nice steel guitar playing on this one.
I also liked "Lost in the Ozone," it was nice and zippy with good vocal arrangement and nice steel playing.
Thanks for sharing this, Gerald.
Aloha,
