Hi Ray,
We're in Kemp, Tx. with some very gracious and close friends, Paul and Dee Polish, who took us "refugees" from the Texas Gulf Coast into their home. This certainly looks like a great schedule of players and Barbara and I are really looking forward to coming up and being a small part of what looks like a great show.
A break from the storm ravaged Gulf Coast will surely be welcomed by us. By the Grace of Our Lord we came out of it with very minimal damage although we have no power, and it looks like it could be a couple of weeks before it is restored. Although we will not be allowed back into our area until the power is restored, we feel very blessed. I'll get it touch with you in the coming days. Again we're looking forward to being with all of you at the show. We would like to thank everyone who has called us and prayed for us during this very stormy time in our lives.
Best Wishes,
...Roy and Barbara _________________ Music is a "gift" with many wrappings....

**Ditto** to what everyone is saying, what an incredible line-up of steel players. "45" of the best steel players in the heartland of the U.S. We here at the KSGA are just dumbfounded by the giving and caring of all these players to come to a little town of 5,000 and turn it into a major event! I think we ought to rename it the "Baxter Springs Steel Guitar Family Reunion" as you all feel like family to us! Thank you everyone! Ray _________________ Ray Qualls

Everyone that can come to this show needs to do it.
The people here are some of the nicest people that I have ever met at any steel guitar show. Ray does a super job putting this event together.
I am really looking forward to coming as I got sick last year and had to cancel then at the last minute.
GOD bless and see you at Baxter Springs. Scotty Henderson, Fred Justice and I'll save a little food for you.

Terry, thanks and looking forward to hearing you play and seeing you again. If its OK, I moved you up one space as Jerry Horner needed to play a little earlier as he has to be at another playing job that evening. Hope its OK. Ray _________________ Ray Qualls

Ray, thanks again for allowing me to perform on your show in Baxter Springs. I am most definitely looking forward to it, and also listening to all the great players you have on your schedule. Some I've heard, and others I haven't, but I know it well all be great. Jean DeVore will be helping me with some great vocals, she is always enjoyed by all. I might even talk Rob Parker into singing one also. See you soon, Larry Baker

Ray, thanks for the offer as I really like ice cream! I'd love to come to Arizona for about a month and visit all my old friends out there in Winslow. I'll send Fred home with a full belly so maybe he won't eat as much as usual. Have fun, Ray _________________ Ray Qualls

I would like to see Rick Nichols play in steel shows. Rick doesn't think he is that great, but I happen to think Rick "IS" a great player. Besides that, Rick is a wonderful person. Ray, it shows what kind of person you are to offer to make room for Rick on your show. Ray, everyone knows where your heart is. Everyone who puts on steel shows should take an example from Ray Qualls. There is no ego involved, and no personal agenda, only straight forward honesty and respect for everyone and from everyone.
In recent years I have noticed many steel shows turning into a dark personal agenda of the promoters. That is why I quit attending, and supporting, several of the shows. Every player no matter how good, or how terrible, has something to offer and should be respected. A steel show should not be about ego and hero worship. Just my opinion! Ray Qualls puts this show on for love and fellowship, and people respect Ray for this. Now, let ME put love and fellowship FIRST----Rick, I will share my spot on the show with you. Rick, this is a personal invite to play with me on my portion of the show. Let me know? Rick you are a hot picker and I just hope I can hang with you. |
