This Six String Lap Steel Solo is done with
no pedals featuring half step downward slanting...
moving with the beat. Strings 1 and 2 and strings
2 and 6 for a real splitter.
It is a mixture of Lap Steel and Pedal Steel sounds
It is both fun but work to try this technique.
I have added it to my list of available Tabs for
Non Pedal Steel. See my site address below.

Thank you fellas.
I did not mention in my intial post that
the C6 tuning set up for this song is High to Low:
E--C--A--G--E--C
I find new things on it every day.

When I saw the destructive title I was expecting heavy metal or suchlike, but this is such a pleasant and peaceful number that the title seems inappropriate. Well done. Great playing. |

Alan/Chris,
This song was a Conway Twitty hit from the 60's on which the late John Hughey played an unforgettable break.
Non Pedal players may not be familiar with it but
the E9 Pedal Steel "cats" certainly will I am sure.
I have never heard anyone replicate what John did
on that session. Amazing to say the least!!

roy...you're right about john hughey. he started at the open fret position and ended about 2 frets past the fret markers on top..ha...i used to have the album but it disappeared. do you remember what album that was??
this still doesn't take away from your performance. it inspired me. i've had a rick bakelite 6 string for years but have never decided how i want to tune it, so haven't given it the time. maybe i should just go back to c6 and start playing it! |

True. When you correct the mis-spelled word (destroyed) to the rightful word (enjoy), the title should read I ENJOY THE WORLD.
You did a nice job on the number, Roy!

Love it, great job!
I actually do alot of that slanting up/down in c6 to simulate pedal-ish sounds...works quite well with practice! |
