I saw the Eagles last night and one played a black psg D-10, also six string. Anyone know his name?? I didn't see the psg from the front, so I don't know the make.

Don Felder played some steel and I've seen him on video with them. Don plays with bare fingers and plays fairly simple stuff but gets a good sound and plays in Tune.

I think that would have been the Don Felders replacement Steurt Smith. He seems to be a great guitar player - but no one can replace Felder.

Is that the same Stuart Smith who played with Rodney Crowell and Rosanne Cash. If so he is indeed a hot picker.

At one time, Bernie Leadon played steel for the Eagles.

I love Steuart Smith's playing. I saw him live here at the Hampton Coliseum some years ago with Roseanne Cash. When they did "Seven Year Ache" he did the steel parts on his six string. Also, he plays guitar with a thumb pick "like you're supposed to!"

On the latest Eagles DVD they do a version of "Peaceful Easy Feeling" and when the guitar break comes, Steuart plays the Bernie Leadon B-Bender break with manual bends and right in tune. He didn't need a bender at all........JH in Va.

They actually had one on a song they did for the "Hell Freezes Over" record called "The Girl From Yesterday", and in the video, I believe the steel looked like a Sho-Bud.

I know that Greg Leisz played steel on the most recent record. Steuart co-produced the CD and also co-wrote a lot of the songs so even if they don't include him in pictures as a "member" he's doing just fine! And live he's right up front with the other 4 singing and playing most of the guitar solos, with the other "hired gun" musicians more in the back. I just saw the first part of an Eagles show at a festival this year and I don't think he's playing steel; nobody's answered the question yet of who's doubling on guitar and steel on the current tour(?).

Actually it was answered by Damien Odell on the 21st of August.
If you had then done a goole search on Stuart Smith + tour + eagles, like I did, you'd have had some info like:

Eagles’ Long Road Out Of Eden Tour - 2008, Stuart Smith on steel guitar.
http://www.opednews.com/maxwrite/diarypage.php?did=8256

www.hometheatershack.com/forums/music-dvd-concerts/423-dvd-review-eagles-farewell-tour-live-melbourne.html

Their official website might have had something, I didn't bother looking.
I might add that online everyone and their dog seems to have tried a variation of the possible spelling of Stuart, or Stewart, or even Steuart as mentioned here.

Way back when, the Eagles had the hit "Best of My Love" with some really nice steel playing in it. Anybody know who played on that one? Bernie Leadon?

I think you'll find that Al Perkins played steel on some of the first three albums.
