I'm looking for information on the Cougar Slidemaster. The Slidemaster was a 6 string pedal steel with three pedals and three knee levers. It was tuned to open E and was designed for lap steel or standard guitar players, interested in exploring the world of the pedal steel. I'd specifically like to know what the pedal tuning setup was. Thanks.

I had one. Great little guitar. Tons of fun. I think the factory setup was something like... (high to low) E,B,G#,E,D,G#. Mine was a standard E9 setup without the chromatics, the D string and the low B string. Everything else was the same.

My tuning ended up being. (High to low) E,B,G#,E,B,E It had the standard pedal setup and 2 knees raised and lowered the E's and the other lowered the G# a whole step.

I think a 7 string would be all that you really need to play country. I think (for country music) it really needed the high G# string. As a slide type guitar, a 6 string is fine. Another great thing about the Slidemaster is the string spacing was 3/8ths like a standard guitar. It also had great tone from the 6 string pickup. And, you could strum it.

Joe Perry from Aerosmith had one with a G type tuning.

If you ever see one for sale, let me know.
