You might have a previous instance of your media player running invisibly (due to an unsunsuccessful exit previously), blocking the start of a new instance - or holding onto your youtube file. Have you performed the first commandment of all problem solving in Windoze - a restart?

Yes I have tried a re-start. Other videos play that are on my hard drive just not the ones that I downloaded from Youtube. I did burn a disc with some videos, could it be the format changed and now wmp does not recognize it. It displays the problem encountered and needs to close as soon as I click on a video to play it ??????

It sounds like it. Do they have the right extensions (i.e. are they really of the file type as indicated by their extensions)?
