Hi Everyone!!! It is my pleasure to introduce a brand new seat from Walker Seats. We named it the “Traveler UltraLite” and for many good reasons. This seat will comply with most airlines’ overhead compartment regulations. While the compartment section of this seat is smaller it still stands 21 inches high which has been the standard in seats for many years. The inside compartments will still hold a Hilton Volume pedal with a bracket as well as the full compliments of strings, tuner, winder, pliers, etc.,etc. The seat is fully lined on the inside and boasts the “Walker Triple Layered Cushioning System” and topped with cloth for comfort…style and durability. And what’s best, “I think” is that this young seat weighs in at only 11.4 lbs. That’s right!!!!. I recently took a trip up north to play some music with the boys. Well with gas prices being what they are and what looks like for a long time to come…I took a Honda Hybrid. Well as you can imagine…space was extremely limited and it was a chore to get all my stuff in there. With the new “Traveler UltraLite” my next trip will be a bit roomier. Seems like everyone is trying their best to save on gas and smaller vehicles are becoming the best way…so this new seat will be a plus. And for more good news…..it is priced so that you can keep a seat at home and simply take the “Traveler UltraLite” out when you leave home. Make no mistake….this new seat is as durable as all Walker Seats with the same workmanship and quality that you have come to depend on, so as your primary seat….the “Traveler UltraLite” will stand up to your expectations. And finally, let me give credit where credit is due! Randy Beavers and I have been talking for years about construction of seats…cases…etc. and it was Randy who finally got me off my hind parts to get this thing done. His new job with LeAnn Womack…puts him on many shows where he must travel by air. I was happy when it was completed and I was able to make that call. Randy was the first one to order the seat. I have listened and I have heard from many players over the years about the weight issues all steel players have including me, and this is my effort to respond to that need. Within the next 7 to 10 days I will have the parts to complete (20) “Walker UltraLites” and I will see what the response is and if there is truly a market for this product to be produced on a full scale basis. Randy thinks there is and so do I, but then… this isn’t my first day and I will see whatever I see. Because everything depends on sales for this new seat….I will assess things once the first (20) twenty seats are ordered…and then make a decision about production levels then, and that means there will be a slight waiting period “after” the (20) twenty seats are ordered.
Finally let me take this time to once again thank each of you who have purchased a Walker Seat. Your business and friendships mean everything to me. I strive to be a full line seat manufacturer …providing you with the best quality, workmanship and comfort no matter which model you choose.
God Bless you all….

Hi Dan,
I will not be in St Louis this year, unfortunately.

Here is a picture with the top up. Again this is a cloth cushioned seat

In keeping things to the letter of the Steel Guitar Forum Rules, I would simply like to direct you to the For Sale section of this forum, as the "news announcement" for this new product will have served it purpose within the next week or so. We have been very very busy down here in Carolina making the other model seats as well as this newest model and your business is greatly appreciated. I would say, however, that there will be yet a new model coming in the very near future that I know you will like...or at least some of you will. Finally we will also be making an announcement about some other things that we are excited about and want to share with you all...and will do that just as soon as we are able.

God Bless

Ray.......great looking seat.....and without a doubt, something that all of us steelers need. Will be going on the road myself in the not so distant future with up to 200 + dates for next year, so the weight issue will definitely hit me, too....so, if you should go into production of this new line, I'll be in line for a new Walker Seat.......I love my present Walker Sidekick.....very comfortable and extrememly durable....thanks for a great product, and continued success with your new one.....HAL

Thanks to all who have ordered the seat. I know you will be very happy for many many years to come. Hal I have already started the production phase of the seat. What I am doing here initially is trying to see what "level" of production I need to prepare for. From the e-mails and orders I have received so far, it would appear that the interest is substantial. I know that I have had many occasions that I simply needed to go smaller on things....I have heard that same thing from folks right here on the SGF. I am simply trying to be a good seat manufacturer who listens to the folks' needs and then try to fill those needs. It is not always possible, but in this case it made sense that there were a lot of players who would like smaller. Heck I also manufacture the "throne" which is a big seat with a side car and lots and lots of room to carry a lot of things. It's just not the seat for everyone...because like a lady's purse....the bigger it is the more junk we stick in there Very Happy
The fact of the matter is that I will be producing these seats....I am simply trying to determine at what level I must run the production so that there is little or no waiting for the player. Again, the response so far has been very positive, but it's been less than 24 hours...so let's give it some time.

My best to you all

I am reving up for production of the first set of 20 seats for next week. I will have all the parts for the legs done by then. I have been taking orders for these seat for the last couple of days and it is promising. I have some slots left of these twenty seats for anyone who would like to place their order. After that I will take some time to assess just what kind of production level to prepare for and then go from there...so there will be a bit of time before I get that all together.. I say this becasue I have received some e-mails asking when I am going to start making them. I want to be clear that I am starting production of the first twenty next week based upon paid orders that I receive. Thanks for all that have ordered a seat so far and I look forward to serving your seat needs in the future

God Bless

My new "Walker Traveler" steel seat arrived this afternoon. Judy handed me the box and I couldn't believe there was a seat in it! This thing is light! Even after I loaded it up with a volume pedal, strings, tuner, overdrive pedal, chords, pliers, string winder, forceps (you never know when you might need these), flashlight, bars and picks, it weighed just under 18 pounds! I've been sitting on it and squirming around, and it seems as stable as Ray's other seats. (Which is very stable)

I do think with the price of fuel we are going to have to get all our gear into the trunk of a Honda Civic, or less. Then we have to consider our aging backs! Lighter is always better if it will carry and hold up the same thing. And by-and-large, most of us are buying extra large! Smile By that I mean... You know what I mean!

Thanks Ray, this may just save a few chiropractor visits.
