Here is a tune I haven't heard for a very long time.
Howard Barnard performing "Red Skin Rag" at the Centennial Rodeo Opry in OKC's Historic Stockyards City on March 8th, 2008.
Lisa Spears played a very fast version of "Red Skin Rag" at Scotty's ISGC in the 1980s, on a very early all wood body Sho-Bud guitar.

Hi Roger! Long time no see! Red Skin Rag was the first song that Hal Rugg showed me how to play, way back in 58 when he was living here in Mn. Regards! Al Udeen |

Great playing of a great song. I think this is a good example of getting the 6th neck sound from an S10 E9. But it is also an example of the limitations of that. C6 and uni B6 players will notice the missing low strings sound, and a little more of the E9 twang than you usually hear from C6 or B6. Just an interesting observation. Don't mean to detract at all from Howard's great playing. |

Hello David,
Would an E-9th tuning with the D note removed and the B note moved forward to the 9th string position and a Low E note added in the 10th string positon work better?
In this application the D note could be recovered by
lowering the 8th string E to a D note. ????
