| I tried a set of SIT strings (SHO-E9th nickel) on my Sho-Bud and they sound really good. Anyone else here tried these? |

I have mostly used SIT's for the last three or four years and realy liked them. They sound great and breakage on my Mullen is minimumal. I believe the length of twist on the 11.5 third is shorter than most other brands.
I have Jagwires on it now, just wanted to see how they sounded.
I'm realy happy with the Jag's and they are a lot easier to get, I just order them from Bob on the Fourm. At this time, I think I'll just stick with the Jag's.. Alan

I am currently using the S.I.T.'s and I love the
clarity and warmth I am getting. Nickel is
the way to go for me. Tommy keeps all the types
and guages so all the players in this region
can find one they like. |

Me too - Buddy Emmons sets.
I just happen to use them, no real reason - but they sound quite good enough for me, so I have no plans to change. |

SIT's are fine strings. Charlie Stepp of Derby guitars once used the Nickel Sets on all of his new guitars, maybe still does. I believe he recommends the Emmons gauge set. I like the standard Nashville gauges in the stainless compound myself, but it's hard to argue with the man who has so many steel guitars out there. I buy all my singles from him and many complete sets all in the SIT brand.
A few years ago I was hanging around at his shop and discussing string gauges and alloys....he just grunted and with that smile of his pitched me a set of the BE SIT strings and said, "Don't argue with me, here just put these on your guitar"... I did too. |

| after years of using Jagwire I returned to SIT and am more then happy with them, they never tarnish and stay in tune, I got to hate the sound of the Jagwire strings after a while..IMHO |

| Mike, I use Frenchy's Silent Series nickel made by SIT. Great strings. You can get them in nickel or stainless. These strings are semi-flatwound. Great playability. Jody. |

They might be made by the same company, but they aren't made to the same specs. Choice of alloy composition and core/winding diameters are the things that make string brands different.
I tried SIT strings for a few months on my Williams. They sounded excellent to me, and I had no breakage.

I've been using Emmons nickel SITs for over three years now..
Great strings and minimal breakage.

I used SIT BE-E9s on my Dekley and loved them. When I got my new Fessenden I thought the strings it came with felt and sounded even better and thought I ought to switch. I e-mailed Jerry and asked what they were: SIT BE-E9s. 
Recently I did have a strange issue with them though. I bought four sets from one of the vendors mentioned on this thread. As I was putting the first set on I noticed something odd: the seventh string seeemed wrong. In fact, it was decidedly thicker than the eighth string (maybe even the ninth string); it certainly wasn't an .026. Turned out all four sets had the same problem. I contacted the vendor who put me in touch with someone at SIT who did right by me. So, they even have good customer service. Probably a weird fluke, but just check that seventh string in the BE-E9 set.

| I alternate between SIT Buddy Emmons and Jagwire. The SITs sound really good. The .22 plain strings in the Buddy Emmons series don't really suit my Carter, but the strings themselves are good. However, I prefer the Jagwires more now. |
