I'm no expert but I think it's just the bellcrank holes: 7 for the Lashley LeGrande and 14 for the LeGrande II.

My '93 Lashley Legrande has 14 hole bellcranks. I think the earlier ones had 7 hole bellcranks. I may be wrong but, the only difference I can tell between my Lashley Legrande and a Legrande II is the decal. Maybe some of the Emmons experts can jump in on this.

The only diffence is the bellcranks.

The early LeGrandes with the 14 hole bellcranks didn't have the II designation.

I ordered a II decal from Emmons and put it on mine.

My Lashley LeGrande also has 14 hole bellcranks. However, the decal only says Lashley LeGrande. Since I bought the guitar used I didn't know if perhaps the decal may have been changed prior to my ownership. I'm not aware of a 7 hole bellcrank. The Emmons catalog shows 4 hole and 14 hole bellcranks. Thanks.

My LeGrande ll serial #1390 something has the four hole bell cranks. A couple of the bell cranks for the knee levers has the 14 hole.

The difference between a Lashley LeGrande and a Lashley LeGrande II is the axle.
Lashley LeGrande 1/2 inch OD
Lashley LeGrande II 9/16 inch OD.
So the axle of a Lashley LeGrande II is a bit thicker.Because of that the left/right leg ( pillow mount ) and the bridgefingers are a slight different.
For the rest ( besides the decal ) no differences.

I thought the original LeGrande had a shorter keyhead than the II.

The Lashley LeGrande plays and sounds better.
That should clear things up.

My Lashley LeGrande is a long keyhead with a Lashley LeGrande decal.
The cross axles are 5/16" and square.
All bell cranks are 4 hole.
From recent info on the guitar recieved from Rebecca Lashley at the Emmons Guitar Co. the guitar,ser#539L was built 5-24-1988.
This guitar has not been altered.

Harold,

I believe Jack was referring to the changer axle diameter. I didn't know they made a change to 9/16" from 1/2" on LeGrande guitars. The push-pull guitars that I have worked on all have had 9/16" axles. I guess bigger is "better" Smile
