I know it's early in the year, and this song was airing a few days prior to the rollover, but I'd like to nominate KC's "shi-i-i-i-i-f-t work" as a major contender for worst NC song of the year.
A close second, so far, is the kiddie tune about [ridin' shotgun with her hair undone in the front seat of his car. I found a pen and an old nap-kin and I wrote down our song.]
With all due respect to the many good songwriters, seems a lot of the new songs are as disposable as razor blades or even toilet paper for heaven's sake. |

Now Steve don't be dissing two of my friends from the 60's. Jack Blanchard and Misty Morgan were and probably still are two very competent musicians. The original theme for Star Trek was written by Jack Blanchard and it was named Gemini(my Guitar Teacher and Mentor Doug Tarrant played guitar on the original)It was covered by the Ventures and They screwed it up, then somebody borrowed? the melody and used it for Star Trek. Probably a little ahead of their time, I'd take them over the current artists? you hear on the radio today. |

You've got to be right about that [song]? shift work! I turned the radio on in my pick up last night while driving home and it was playing. I couldn't get a CD in the player fast enough! I don't know who does it, but that is horrible!
My opinion, but I'm gonna stick to it!

We're headed toward Mar., and I think the KC tune is still the winner. I give the little Taylor girl a little nudge upward after hearing the latest single that's getting airplay lately. Picture to Burn or something like that.
Kinda cutesy in a teeny-bopper, bubblegummer way...sorta like what we've come to expect from the sold out industry.
No disrespect intended toward her...she's just following her heart, I'm sure. But the business...that's a whole 'nuther conundrum |

Well, look on the bright side to these two dippy songs.............at least you can understand the words!! And would someone please tell KC to go blow his nose. He has enough nasal twang to make my skin crawl!! But then again, he is making millions and I am setting at home typing on my computer....HA!

I've resisted the seemingly dumb question for more than a month now:
"NCS"?

Stephen G. Tennessee Birdwalk was actually the
'1st Anti-Pollution song' to get serious air play.
Jack and Misty were WAY ahead of their time.
They are still playing too.
It is a well constructed song.
Not a 'Bird Is The Word', etc.
It is also a 'silly appearing' song
unless you really check the lyrics.
But that 'silly novelty song' quality
is ALSO what got it on the air.
Humphrey the Camel...
well, a forced follow up to an unexpected hit.
Oh yeah, it was on my father's record lable.
it paid for my 1st 8 channel 1" Scully recorder,
so I could keep it, as a teenager,
and it didn't need to be sold off.
I will ALWAYS love that tune.
Silly as it may seem at first blush. _________________ DLD, Chili farmer. Plus bananas and papaya too.

Well, Ben you asked for it. New Country Sh*t. I believe our very own beloved b0b coined this totally appropriate term for the assembly line, homogenized, watered down, lowest common denominator, pop pap that's on the "New Country" stations. I'm a true mercenary because I play some of it in a weekend cover band, but hey, times is tough and I need the dough. _________________ Mullen RP D10, Peavey NV112, Hilton volume. Hound Dog reso. That hurt, Steve.
That song is the them for our family reunions, wedding marches and was the last song Uncle Earl wanted played at his funeral.
I don't like you anymore. |

Sorry to say that I'm almost sure I heard on the radio that the "Shiiiiiiifft Work" song features George Strait along with Kenny Chesney. Please tell me it can't be true What's next, Haggard with Cowboy Troy????? |
