I'm looking to buy my first lap steel (then I hope to be able to contribute to the Forum instead of just using it.) I'm favouring an old Valco of some kind- a Supro, National, etc., etc., but I'd consider other makes. Of course I'd like it to be entirely original and all that but the main thing is what it sounds like. I'd pay a good, if sensible, price for the right thing- good £/$ exchange rate at the minute!! It would be shipped to Scotland, UK at my expense. Thank you. |

Thanks Ronald. There is a new model I'm interested in but I'll certainly take a look at this manufacturer. Mind you, I've kinda set my heart on an old instrument. |

I have a Tonemaster thru-the-body neck design 6-string lap steel that I bought a couple years ago from the estate of the late Don Lee from Illinois USA. It is equipped with a Stringtone 3-position tone changer mechanism. It's in its original case. Guitar and case are in good shape especially considering how much it was played and its age. Nice warm sound. It also has a vintage Waverly flat bar. I don't play non-pedal very well, so I'd consider selling it.
