I had my lesson with Buddy Charleton today, and he said he'd be playing at the Birchmere on Saturday, January 12 with Bill Kirchen. No specifics, just "western swing," according to Buddy. The Birchmere site lists nothing that day but a Nils Lofgren cancellation (I 'spect he'll be with the Boss that night.) Gigs allowing, I plan to be there and would love to meet some of Buddy's fellow students, as well as DC-area steelers. Buddy doesn't play out often anymore, so it's a great chance to hear a legend who does it right.
