I just heard about a working pro-player/teacher friend who has some of nerve condition in his hands requiring an operation. Soon, according to exeprt medical advice. He doesn't have insurance. And while this is not a case of a player who's at Life's Most Catastrophic Extremity, is there some kind of assistance fund or foundation that might help him?

I'm saying, if he needs surgery for his condition and has no insurance to cover it, he's basically SOL. Unless, of course, he's independently wealthy and would have no problem paying for it out of his own pocketbook.
