Uh oh! I was planning on coming up to the meeting and jam this month - but - as it turns out, I gotta have foot surgery that morning. Not good. Not good at all. I'll be here at the house with my foot up in the air, blitzed on pain pills. Maybe next month. I'm often up that direction on the job, so fitting the meeting into a regular road trip would work out fine. I won't be pickin', but I'm sure y'all will let folks listen, right? I hope. Y'all have fun.

After this time off from the club meetings it would be good to get back again. However, for me I'll have to wait another month to see everyone. In the past few few months I too have been plagued with minor medical problems. Nothing real serious at this time but enough to keep me sidelined.
So all you pickers.....enjoy the return of the club meetings. I look forward to seeing you all soon.

I've had an eye problem that reqired some laser surgery yesterday. I'm going to try and make the jam, although I can't lift anything heavy so I won't have my steel. |

Jack,
Why not bring your equipment and make the other guys load and unload it -- like I have to do. There just has to be someone there who has a strong back and the will to carry heavy stuff.
Speaking of heavy stuff, I have my like-new Peavey 57-pound Nashville 1000 for sale at a reasonable price; just in case someone wants me to deliver it at the jam.
See you Wednesday. _________________ Pioneers of Western Swing HOF, Seattle 2005

Roy, the big problem is getting it loaded into the SUV at home. I'm sure Don or someone there will let me play their guitar. |

Thanks to all that participated in the start of our 6th year. We had a great turnout and some pickers we haven't seen for a while. I can't remember them all but Jim Stewart from Vero Beach was there for the first time, nice to see "Possum" and Allen McCormick again and to new Hall of Fame member Roy Ayres.
A special thanks to Roy for bailing us out when the PA system died and to Allen's wife for rhythm guitar.
I had to leave early and missed most of the great steel picking. |

Hey Jack,
Sorry you weren't able to stay and pick last night. Was looking forward to hearing you.
Had a good time and it was great seeing the folks again.
And as usual, Johnny's world famous hamburger was as good as ever!

Thanks to all the pickers, our great backup band members(Carl, Tony, George, Bernie & Brenda) and the those who came just to listen.
It was a great way to start off our 6th season.
See you again next month on the 14th.
Don

Hey James; How did you ever manage to get thru the whole evening without partaking of Johnny's famous catfish, cheese grits, hushpuppies and sweet taters? Y'all could eat a hamburger almost anywhere (not that I'm puting down Johnny's hamburgers, I've never tried them). But there's no comparison. Y'all don't know what you missed.
Good talking with ya last night.

Hi everyone,
I am Chris, a new member of the forum here and hopefully now of the Florida Steel Club.
let me first say thank you to Bob. I placed a call for membership this evening, and 5 minutes later was a member... I apperiate the care and speed towards a fellow steel lover.
I want to say it was an extreme pleasure meeting you guys last night at the club meeting; Bob Schlegel, Roy Ayres, and Don Sulesky.
We sat in the very back, me, my wife, and two daughters, We didn't get to introduce ourselves to everyone, but will attend next month's meeting also.
We loved the food at Johnny's...we had the frog leg, catfish nugget, and Alligator nugget platter for two, it was awesome.
We thank him also for his hospitality in use of the place.
Blessings to everyone, and take care.
