I second that.
I picked up the first album from Little Big Town awhile back, with great steel and dobro from Dan.
And the first two projects from Mindy Smith - some outstanding contributions from Dan. On Mindy's first album, on the first song, "Come To Jesus," Dan has a solo on lap steel that is just brilliant.

Was'nt that Dan on the song,Strawberry Wine[think that's the name of it]Can't remember the lady that sang it,but remember the GREAT steel work,don't you know.

| I agree Kevin. One of my all-time favorite steel turn around's is his great tone and feel on "Blue Bayou". He's an all around great musician that has been playing on hit records for years now in Nashville. |

......in my car radio I heard a song by Maggie Brown called"Shame" with incredible,unbelievable steel playing.
Purchased the cd and it turned out to be Dan Dugmore.
He also played good steel on some James Taylor songs...including "Bartenders' Blues" which was later recorded by George Jones. |

| Jim, thats what I'm talking about. There's not another steel player outside the Hall Of Fame with those credentials. Just incredible discogrophy and touring credentials. He's one of the A team recording steelers in Nashville. One of the most tasteful players I ever heard. |

Guarantee you folks one thing, talking about it on here surely is fine, and I couldn't agree more about Daniel, but the fact of the matter is if you want him to be nominated you gotta' go to this site and do exactly what it says or all this 'deserved back patting' is for naught:

| Fred, I intend to do just that. Dan Dugmore reminds me greatly of Pete Drake. Pete took alot guff from technocrat steel players for years and laughed all the way to the bank. Pete Drake was the first choice of many producers and recording artists when it came to tasteful steel playing in Nashville. I can walk into a department store and hear Dan Dugmore over the sound system any day of the week with Trisha Yearwood, Linda Ronstadt, Martina McBride, and others. He is the epitome of a great studio player to me. He never tried to be the star. He's also playing guitar, both acoustic and electric on many of the hits coming out of Nashville. Lap steel and dobro also. |

A copy and paste of Jim cohen's link should suffice as a nomination submission for the great Dan Dugmore, creator of many famous, timeless steel passages and runs. His CV is at least as impressive (and in some cases more impressive) as some who have been bestowed the honour already.
It seems timely to submit this nomination form now. It's up to one of us to do it.

Funny a friend of mine who's cuttin in Nashvegas yesterday was trying to tell me who played steel on the session. After quizing him it turns out to be
Dan. I love his playing. |

| I'm telling you guys that he is THE modern day Pete Drake. Just look into his back round. He's played the White House twice. Once with Dolly Pardon. ACM steel guitar player of the year a couple of years ago. You don't get called for those jobs without having weight. He's got the creds. When Dan comes on the radio I immediately know its him. He's got a very recognizable style of his own. |
