Leo, as you know, I did a stint in Eddy's band on steel guitar at the "Next Time Country" in Covina as well as some other things. I can't be there but I'll be sure to send a donation. I can't believe this! A few months ago I sent Eddy a CD of a live show we did around 1980 or so and he was happy to get it. I'll send him a card at home also....JH in Va. _________________ Don't matter who's in Austin (or anywhere else) Ralph Mooney is still the king!!! |

Hey Brother John,I was waiting until some more of the forum brothers like yourself got on.But,I'll do a little run down. Eddy Drake and his band played all over Southern Caliorina in these Night Clubs. The Palomino in North Hollywood,Ace,s in La Puente,Miller's Cave,Blue Room in La Puente with Johnny Paycheck on Steel Guitar,D.J. Ranch in North Long Beach,Nashville West in El Monte. He also was A Disc Jockey on KKAR Radio Station in Pomona,Calif.A Songwriter,Guitarist & Entertainer with a smooth voice. If these three Academy of Country Music AWARD WINNERS come out Al Bruno-Guitarist in winning Ten Times, Jay Dee Maness -Steel-Guitar in winning fifteen times & Archie Francis on Drums in winning Ten Times we would have half of the TONY BOOTH Band. I know Jay Dee & Archie are coming, haven't heard any thing yet from Al Bruno. It's gonna be a great day for EDDY. Leo J.Eiffert,Jr. & Pigeons |

Hi guy, I'm going to do my best to be there. I worked with Eddie in the late 60's before I moved to OKC. Al Bruno, Archie Francis and me went to work with Eddie at the Ace's Club at the same time when we were working together, Jay Dee was already there. Later Carl Walden came with us, also Peaches Price, and others. Seems like even tho some of us had our own bands or other things going so many of us passed thru the Eddie Drake band some time or another. He's a good man and I love him. db |

L.J., Last night at 7:10, The Cocky Bull, closed it's doors. The Sheriffs department was called out to keep the peace. Dispute between owner's. As of this morning they say the closure is indefinitely. You may want to call them. |

Leo:
I was going to write you to say that I would not be able to make the benefit for Eddie because I am going to South Carolina to attend our grand-daughter's wedding. If the prior post is valid, it looks like bad news.. The "Cocky Bull" is/was a really neat place to play. I played there in 1990 while on tour with Hank Thompson. I met Eddie back in 1959 or 60, while I was in the Marine Corps. He was playing in some beer bar, and he had a non-pedal steel player named Carl Hoyt working in his band. I was wondering if anyone reading this has any info on Carl. I would really appreciate hearing from anyone who knows his whereabouts..
Regards, Harley Morris |

Thanks Tom Beeman for your info! At this time it is true that the Cocky Bull Opry Hall is Closed. Due to the fact that the Owners are reconstructing it's personnel. That's why, why the sheriff department was called out.Remember what I keep saying on this FORUM their is a right and a wrong.Sometimes the wrong it what hurts the right. Keep that in mind as to what people who are running around Victoville crying the blues to other Culb owners who are looking for work.On Saturday October 20th,2007 we will have our Honorary-Benefit for Mr. Eddy Drake as set 10:00am til? The Doors will be open. It is not Cancelled. Just some hot shots who really don't want me to have this for Eddy. This is nothing new about the order these people do at me. Yes,I know who they are & that's O.K. cause it all in God hands anyway.See you on the 20th of this Month. Leo J.Eiffert,Jr. PS.If you would like to help Eddy out with a little donation with out me in it,Call him at 909-923-5603 or send it in care of Eddy Drake at P.O.Box 5412,Buena Park,Calif.90620 |
