Homespun has a great variety of instruction videos...I have several of them (wish I had many more ), and they are all top notch. |

As promised, an unsolicited review of this fine DVD. This video is worth the price just to witness Darick's super expressive playing style. He uses an E major tuning on a Sierra 8. He goes over left hand blocking, expressive use of the volume and tone controls, vibrato and much more. His brothers accompany him and also provide some great backing tracks. Excellent, excellent value. This is one of the best investments I've made with steel guitar funds. Highly reccomended! |

A straight ahead E major tuning on an 8-string???
Sounds like a nice DVD though, perhaps it's time for me to get my first ever instructional video/DVD.....

Steinar, Low to high - b, e, b, e, g#, b, c#, e. I guess technically you would call it an E6. He calls it an E major with a c# on top. You can hear a gospel singer in his playing. Good stuff! |

When I saw him last year he was using a low, LOW E on the bottom, rather than the B. I wonder why he switched?

Some times he plays basslines on his bottom strings. I saw him at a show where he was essentially the bass player on lap steel. He was playing with Calvin Cooke.

No tab. The camera angle is mostly from above, however, so you can easily see what's going on. |
