I've always wanted to be able to look up and listen to a pedal steel intro or lead break to a given song from a given year on a given singer's CD and played by a given pedal steeler.

Anyone else interested in something like that?

I was thinking I could host a site of .mp3 snippets, similar to Graham's Rebel site, but with a database that could be searched by different criteria. Like find me all the pedal steel parts from 1952, or give me a list of Buddy Emmons parts on Ray Price albums.

Of course, I don't have the desire or time to try and track down all of the parts, cut out just the pedal steel part, and mix that part to .mp3. But if anyone is interested in helping with creating the files, I'd certainly be willing to spend the time on the web site.

Just a thought.
