I was just doing some surfing and came across a couple of very nice Nationals here:
http://www.gregboyd.com/elecguitar.html
c.1948 National Model "1010" Special Eight. 8-str Lap Steel. Near Mint Condition. Very Rare Model. Almost any other store would tag this one as "MINT" condition. Because of a couple of the tiniest touch-marks to the edges, it is listed as "NEAR MINT". Comes with original warranty card(not filled out), and original National catalog flyer from the period, and with original guitar cord. All parts are original, no flaws. Original brown hard case only has minor edge rubs. This lap steel would be a showpiece of any guitar collection. $1250 w/ OHC.
On Sale $950 w/ OHC.
[ Front ~ Top ~ Peghead ~ Neck ]
c.1944 National "New Yorker" 6-str Lap Steel. Exceptional Condition. One of the most popular of all Lap Steels, the New Yorker is also one of the best looking. Colored knob position markers as well as the colored Roman Numerial fret markings. All original, including "basket-weave" fabric hard case. $849 w/ OHC.
On Sale $750 w/ OHC.
I don't know if these are great prices but I always look at it this way: is National ever gonna make this guitar again? It's seeming like any really nice vintage lap steel is getting harder to snag for much under $600 or $700 these days and close to $1000 for mint or near mint. Anyway, just passing this info on. |

i live down the street from greg boyd, and i've played both of those guitars. they're both nice. greg is a great guy to deal with. i don't know of anybody who's had a problem with him. i bought my lebeda dobro from him for less than elderly's price. give him a call.

There should be a black cover for the
pickup on the National 1010 8 String? |
