For sale: two different CD's featuring the Hawaiian music combo "The Essential Resophonics"; a California-based group consisting of uke, bass, guitar and hawaiian steel (electric non-pedal and National tri-cone as played with skill and sensitivity by Buck Giles). The first CD is the band's solo debut performing acoustically in the 1930's style of Hoopii, Nawahi, etc. on traditional Hawaiian standards and a couple of swing numbers such as "Mood Indigo". 10 songs in all and every one a gem. Three cheers for these gents! More of this music needs to be recorded . This recently-released CD is entitled "The Essential Resophonics - Volume 1 - Evening in the Islands". Played once; excellent condition. The second CD features a Hawaiian music pioneer...92 year old Bill Tapia, a Hawaiian uke and guitar player who in his long career played with, among others, Sol Hoopii. The CD is entitled "Bill Tapia - Tropical Swing" and features the venerable Mr. Tapia playing with great expertise on songs like "Stardust", "Paradise Isle" and "Body and Soul". The first 8 cuts are recent recordings using the capable "Essential Resophonics" boys for backup (with Buck Giles on electric Hawaiian guitar) and the last two cuts are from 1936. This CD is also like new having only been played once. Both CD's are to be sold together for $35.00 with free US Domestic shipping. Don't miss 'em....these are the only ones I have. |
