Also order chips only at:

http://foxvintageamps.com

Battery-less mod for:

Profex
Profex 2
Bassfex
Tubefex
Transtubefex
Session 2000
Transfex Pro amps
Autograph
Addverb 3 (requires de-soldering, additional charge)

Battery-less memory chip and instructions shipped USPS Priority Mail ( You must be familiar with IC installation and safe handing of static components to do this. If you have a lot of battery leakage you may not want to attempt this, as your unit may need further bench work to clean up the problems.):

$39.00. Each additional chip is $31.00 in the same shipment

Installed prices below:

Option 1:

$70.00 for the chip, reload your settings or I can reload from my collection, repackage and ship. I have a nice combo of Jeff Newman and Jeff Peterson settings I can load. You do not lose any Newman settings, just the some that were duplicated.

Option 2:

$100.00 for the Battery-less mod and the Burr Brown chip upgrade, Profex 2 and Bassfex only. The result is a lot less background noise and a sweeter sound. Four chips are replaced with this mod.

Shipping charges for the options #1-2 are additional. I will send an invoice in Excel format and include a copy with your upgraded unit.

I am adding a $2.50 handling charge to cover the cost of shipping tape, running these items over to the post office on occasion, bubble wrap (some units are requiring additional packing), shop items (Q-tips, denatured alcohol and such).

Here are other things I can do for you:

1-I can replace broken pots for $25.00 each (volume on the front or rear only for Profex 2 or Bassfex and only at this price if the unit is sent for the the Burr Brown and/or the battery-less mod), also power supply input jacks for same (have only seen 2 bad ones in all the years I have worked on the units). I keep the pots and jacks in stock.

2-Knobs are $3.95 additional.

3- I can also replace the battery in your cache card, if needed and reload the settings to it for $5.00.

4-Output mod to accommodate a power amp/rack system, doubles output voltage! This is a $10.00 mod as long as you are doing the battery-less memory chip for Profex 2 /Bassfex only!

-I do not need your power supply sent with the item, I have several here already.

Pack to protect the racks ears! They bend easy in shipment. Try to pack so the item does not shift. Items packed in peanuts will move all around and bump the ears. I have seen many damaged this way. Wrap in bubble wrap for best results.

Personal check is fine. Postal money order works, too!
If you use PayPal I must add about 3 percent to cover the fees they charge me.

I'm so glad you found more ZMD style chips!! Along with the Burr-Brown chips, they sure breathe like into these Profex units.

Keep up the good work, Ken. We all rely on your expertise.

Having Ken do the mods on the Peavey FX units & brought up to todays specs and not having to replace a battery (sometimes leaking)is well worth the time & money spent. He knows these inside & out and does a great job, even reloads the info as he did on my TubeFex!! Highly recommended

I do not have the schematic so I cannot confirm the output mod would work on the old Profex. I know that the battery-less mod will work and it can be upgraded with Burr Brown chips. There are at least 5 or more as I recall. I saw one in the shop with the Lemay mod in it (chips painted red on top) and I seem to recall there were at least 5 chips changed out.

Just listed my old G&K Rack pre in the F/S section. If I sell it before you run out of battery-less mods -I'll take one of those.

Thanks all

I just wanted to let everyone know we will be taking a break from Dec 25 to Jan 1. If you have a processor on the way please let me know ASAP.

I generally get them out the next day.

Thanks again!!

Just a note, I have only 34 of the chips in stock now.

I am still trying to find a source for the chip and hope to have stock again soon, especially for the Dallas Show.

I will be working at the show on battery-less mods and Burr Brown chips. No repairs on units at the show.

I will also not be doing amp mods, each one takes 2 1/2 hours and a lot of shop equipment I cannot take to Dallas.

This is No reflection on Ken, as you can see from my previous post I think the world of him and his mods, AND, in a previous post Peavey thanked Ken for his work. It's a pity Peavey UK don't know about him..

Thanks Basil. Glad it arrived OK as well

I have less than 30 chips now. I am going to be at the Alabama show with what inventory I have. That will be Jan 19-20. Come on down and I will be glad to do the battery-less mod and/or Burr Brown chips. I will not be able to repair any units that have acid damage at the show. I limit my repair to Profex 2 and Bassfex for acid leakage. All others need to be sent to Peavey for repair.

I have 100 of the new chips ordered and hope to have them within a month.

I am trying to get ready for the Dallas Show. We will be just outside the main ballroom, to the right of the entry.

We were slated to be at Bobby Bowman's table in the main ballroom. Change in plans, as Bobby relinquished his usual table in the ballroom for Buddy Emmons.

We look forward to the show and have invited Bobby B. to share our table. Hopefully he will have his DVDs ready for the show.

We have just got in 12 more battery-less memory chips and have another 88 on back order. I have 100 of the Burr Brown chips due in tomorrow.

Please let me know if you are bring on or more to the Dallas Show.

I will make a list and reserve chips for the show!

Still waiting on the 88 chips. I should have them in time for the Dallas Show.

Right now I have enough to handle orders until Dallas.

The last order of 88 are finally on the way. It was looking like mid March for a while there! We will now have enough for Dallas this year. We ran out last year

Also will be at Saluda this weekend doing the upgrades.

Still have some of the last order of batteryless memory chips. I am pretty sure this will be the last time I order, as there do not seem to be many left to do!!

I am keeping a good stock of the Burr Brown chips, as I use them in the Nashville 400, Nashville 112, Veageas 400 and Nashville 1000 amps.
