I have only a few chips left. I am shipping 5 out tomorrow. I have just been informed that my distributor has no stock and ZMD is no longer making/supporting the chip.

I may be able to get some from a broker in Europe. More to come later.

Regardless, there are no more being manufactured! The next order I get (if I can get one ) will be the end of it, I feel certain.

I will post here as soon as I know more!!!

The price has now increased 50 percent due to the fact these are the last of the chips on the market. I had to order 100 to even get that good of a price! My distributor is out, ZMD will not be making any more NVSRAM chips and the last of them are in the hands of one or maybe two (one still uncorfirmed) surplus parts houses.

Effective immediately my prices are increasing to cover the cost:

Option 1:

$45.00 for the chip, reload your settings or I can reload from my collection, repackage and ship. I have a nice combo of Jeff Newman and Jeff Peterson settings I can load. You do not lose any Newman settings, just the some that were duplicated.

Option 2:

$50.00 for the Burr Brown chip upgrade, Profex 2 and Bassfex only. The result is a lot less background noise and a sweeter sound. Four chips are replaced with this mod.

Option 3:

Total is $90.00 for both of the above mods for Profex 2/Bassfex.

Shipping charges are additional . I will send an invoice in Excel format and include a copy with your upgraded unit.

I am adding a $2.50 handling charge to cover the cost of shipping tape, running these items over to the post office on occasion, bubble wrap (some units are requiring additional packing), shop items (Q-tips, denatured alcohol and such).

Here are other things I can do for you:

1-I can replace broken pots for $15.00 each (volume on the front or rear only for Profex 2 or Bassfex and only at this price if the unit is sent for the the Burr Brown and/or the battery-less mod), also power supply input jacks for same (have only seen 2 bad ones in all the years I have worked on the units). I keep the pots and jacks in stock.

2-Knobs are $3.50 additional.

3- I can also replace the battery in your cache card, if needed and reload the settings to it for $5.00.

4-Output mod to accommodate a power amp/rack system, doubles output voltage! This is a $5.00 mod as long as you are doing the battery-less memory chip for Profex 2 /Bassfex only!

5-Power supply (wall wart) for Profex 2/Bassfex at $15.00 and shipping. I have a limited supply of Basler 16.5VAC transformers with the correct 2.1mm power cord. This unique transformer also has screw terminals for easy cord repair or replacement. I have used these in my shop and also sold many in the last few years.

-I do not need your power supply sent with the item, I have several here already.

Pack to protect the racks ears! They bend easy in shipment. Try to pack so the item does not shift. Items packed in peanuts will move all around and bump the ears. I have seen many damaged this way. Wrap in bubble wrap for best results.

Personal check is fine. Postal money order works, too!
If you use PayPal I must add about 3 percent to cover the fees they charge me.

The last few chips I have left are all committed. The order for 100 is on the way. I am already getting requests for them. I will put people on a list as they email for chip purchases and installs.

Man am I glad I had you [Ken] put that new battery less chip in my old Profex when I did, It seems anything we need always gets taken away sooner or later!! Ken does a great job on these, ya better get one while you can.

Ken did both mods on my Profex II. If you have a Profex II you need to get these mods. It made mine sound so much better/cleaner and you don't have to worry about the battery replacement. Thanks Ken!

Thanks Rick and Ernie! Glad to help out.

All my inventory of chips on hand are committed for sure. I am getting orders now and putting names on a list for the 100 I managed to find. Those should be here next week, as they have already charged my credit card for the purchase.

I am still waiting on the last 100 chips for the battery-less mod. I hope they will be here this week.

Almost every unit I am seeing now has battery leakage. I sent a Trasnstubefex to Peavey for repair. It was so bad it could not be salvaged. keep in mind this is a much newer unit than a Profex or a Tubefex!

The Sesson 2K amps are about the same era as the TransFex Pro amp. I am seeing more and more of those with leakage and damage!

Your battery will leak if it has not yet. Please check for leakage and damage as soon as you can!

Over 50 chips sold or reserved now in the last 2 weeks.

Please advise if you need chips installed or want to purchase chips ASAP. I am keeping a list and will hold them for up to 2 weeks after the request has been made.

A single memory chip shipped to anywhere is 36.00. I ship via USPS Global Priority Mail for out of U.S. sales and use Priority Mail for U.S. sales.

Each additional chip in the same order is 30.00.

I have instructions and pictures for the Profex 2/Bassfex, Tubefex, Transtubefex, Session 2K and Transfex Pro amps showing the chip(s) to replace and battery location as well.

Burr Brown chips in the same order are 30.00 for the set.

I can also pre-program a Profex 2 or Bassfex chip (same unit) with a nice combo of Newman/Peterson settings at no additional charge. All you have to do is remove the battery, the old memory chip and then plug in the new memory chip. No re-initialization required (as it would wipe the chip of my settings).

Of the 100 ZMD chips we just recently got in only 45 are left uncommitted. I also have 100 Burr Brown chip we just received, as we were out of those! A lot of those are committed already. It takes four for a Profex 2 or Bassfex audio upgrade.

Ken just did a complete change out on my profex and a small repair. His service was excellent and I was treated like a special customer and all questions were answered. Thank You Ken Fox for all your kindness in my profex problems. Frank Harris

At this time there are 33 ZMD chips left that are not reserved. I have a good stock of the Burr Brown chips for audio upgrades for the Profex 2 and Bassfex (just under 100, takes 4 per upgrade)

Thanks!

I have just a few left at this time. I am now testing a chip from Simtek that appears to be working great in a Profex 2 that I have in the shop! More on that later, I want to try it in a Transtubefex or Tubefex first.

Thanks to John Fera at Peavey for the info on that chip. I have located 70 thru a vendor I use for the Burr Brown chips. The Burr Brown chips seem to be getting just as hard to find. Digikey, Mouser and all the distributors I could find a while back were out.

I am hoping to have enough stock for Dallas next year!

I just installed a chip in each of my Tubefex units. Ken's intruction sheets made it a snap and it took maybe five minutes to do each unit. Units fired right up, I reinitialized, and reloaded my settings and no more batteries. . . . ever.
Thanks Ken.

All the ZMD chips are pre-sold!

I have 70 of the Simtek chips in now! They are working great in the Profex 2 I have on the bench. I have been testing it for weeks and it seems to be the same chip!

I have 70 of the new Simtek chips for the batteryless mod in now. They are working great.

I am currently out of Burr Brown chips. I have 40 arriving probably today. It looks like January before a new run will be out from T.I. on those chips. I have a source in Florida and am paying more than I would through normal distribution. I will keep my price the same for now.

Option 1:

$45.00 for the install of the battery-less mod chip, reload your settings or I can reload from my collection, repackage and ship. I have a nice combo of Jeff Newman and Jeff Peterson settings I can load. You do not lose any Newman settings, just the some that were duplicated. Works for Profex, Profex 2, Bassfex, Tubefex, Transtubefex, Transfex Pro, Session 2000 and Peavey Autograph.

Option 2:

$50.00 for the Burr Brown chip upgrade, Profex 2 and Bassfex only. The result is a lot less background noise and a sweeter sound. Four chips are replaced with this mod.

Option 3:

Total is $90.00 for both of the above mods installed for Profex 2/Bassfex.

Option 4: Do it yourself!!

Battery-less chip and instructions sent via Priority or Global Priority Mail for $36.00. Each additional chip in same shipment is $30.00. Burr Brown chips (set of 4) in same shipment is $30.00. Shipping included in these prices.

Shipping charges are additional . I will send an invoice in Excel format and include a copy with your upgraded unit.
