..on my double 8...the only number ID is metal tag of the back of the neck that reads 65181...what does that tell you.

Unfortunately not much. That particular serial number could be a couple of different years, based on this serial number scheme for National guitars. A photo would help identify the model you have. Check to see if there isn't a letter prior to those numbers.

BRAD (WELL I GOT THAT RIGHT) I CHECKED THE NUMBER AGAIN..AND IT HAD AN X65181 ..ANY HELP WILL BE APPRECIATED..WHAT IS IT WORTH?

Sorry, Charlie. It's impossible for me to guess what a guitar is worth without even knowing what model it is or what condition it's in. Again, a good set of clear photos makes a huge difference.
I normally recommend the following vintage guitar dealers for those people who want an appraisal of their instrument:
Gruhn Guitars in Nashville, TN
Elderly Instruments in Lansing, MI
Mandolin Brothers in Staten Island, NY
Any of these three should be able to give you a value based on their experiences.
