I have found out that a large electronics parts house in my area can get the 500k log taper pots for in your pot pedals. If I buy 25 I can get them for a little bit better price. I just put on in my goodrich and they are nice pots. Built very well. If I can get 25 sold I can get them out to you for $20 shipped. Please let me know and I will keep a list and if I get enough sold, I'll put in the order. They have a few on hand and I bought one to try it, they are nice.

I would be in for one, provided I could get some expert confirmation that these are heavy duty pots with the proper taper. I only say this because there has been some contradictory reporting on just exactly what is the correct pot for VPs, leaving me a tad confused.
edited to acknowledge that you wrote that you tried one and liked it---so you are satisfied with the taper?[This message was edited by Jon Light on 15 November 2005 at 04:56 PM.] |

I put one in a goodrich 120 tonight that had a worn out pot in it. After I adjusted it, it felt fine and sounded good. To look at the pot, it is made in the same manner as the Allen Bradley or the Clarostat. It is a 500k log taper pot. It is going to be the same as an Allen Bradley pot? I don't know. There is only one Canadian company, making heavy duty pots like this. And after all....we are only talking about $20. It's not like I am trying to sell these to get rich off them. I found a local distributor who carrys them and I am trying to pass them on at a reasonable price.

Someone said that I should put this info in. A logarithmic taper is the same thing as an audio taper which is what volume pedals use. The linear taper is not what you want for a volume pedal.

Didn't mean to sound picky--like I said, there has been some confusion on this forum about just exactly what is the correct taper. I was just looking for confirmation that this is the right one. |

Jon,
You're not being picky at all. If you search log taper on the electronics section, there is some intresting information on this subject. (the forum always has great info as a resource). The term audio taper and log taper refer to the fact that human hearing hears volume increases in a logrithmic manner as oppose to a linear increase. This is why audio devices (volume pedals included) use log taper of audio taper pots (log=audio). I found this very intresting.

There were some differences of opinion about terminology that left me a bit confused. But no matter. If you do this, count me in for one. |

If I have counted the responses correctly, the total is at about 16 commitments for pots. Please add one for me and that makes 17. Only 8 more (minus what Bill will need) to go
Thanks,

Bill, Do you take Paypal? I costs me more than $20 to take off work and drive to get a money order.
If you take paypal, I could buy 2 pots.

Bill, are these the PEC pots? If so, this is what I have found for a replacement pot and have purchased extras from a supplier in Minnesota.
If Bill runs out I will sell them for the same price. |
