This one is on ebay now. Can anyone shed some light about it and the value?

Hi Ron! You have a "find" there if you are the Ron who won the auction.

Regal steels were made by the National Dobro outfit out of Chicago in the Late 30's though early 50's. The dual blade pu's are very different from all other National/Valco/Supro products. The knock is that they have rather weak output compared to Ricks & others. However, they are tone MONSTERS- good for Hawaiian, swing or old country straight up and sound great overdriven for blues & rock.

I purchased an S-8 40's model on e-bay a coupla years ago with white mother of pearl finish, Kluson tuners & bone nut for about $220 missing the bridge. A local luthier with ties to the lap steel community made me a brass bridge & lowered the action slightly to give me the maximum output & now its my favourite steel.

I played it at our convention here this spring: http://www.linkonguitars.ca/wpg04/wpg04.html picture #120 out of 170 (Sorry for makin ya turn so many pages, but I dont have a website....)

Yes, that's me. I think bidding was low because he wasn't sure if it worked or not. What do you think it's worth assuming it works?

Thanks, Ron
