Has anyone toyed around with travel and mini-acoustic guitars setup for lapstyle? I recorded a song with my Weissenborn tuned to the open D shape, but all the way up to F and then capoed to G. I supposed I would be better off playing the Hawaiian or Bluegrass G tuning, but don't have much confidence when playing in that tuning.
Anyway, I put a conversion nut on the baby taylor and it works okay. It has a 22 3/4 inch scale, so I was considering a tacoma papoose, but was afraid a 19" scale would be too short, so I bought a used Martin mahogany 5-15 terz guitar with a 22" scale. I haven't received it yet, but thought it would be a fun experiment. I'm going to use it playing live plugged in anyway so volume isn't as much of a concern. |

Dwight, I had a Martin 2-17H for a while -- it had flush-mounted frets and a high nut. The "2" body is 12" wide; roughly halfway between an "0" and a "5" in size. It was a fun little guitar, but we never really connected ... so it's moved to a new home.
Do you still have that gorgeous travel "Weissenborn?" |

Speaking of qute travel Weissenborns:
From Burgin Guitars in New Zealand, but it's a 25" scale so I guess it doesn't really count...
Anyway,- the closest I've been to a short scale acoustic is my 23,5" May Bell parlor, and she's a real sweetie,- great tone.
