Have you looked for the date under the pick up end - Thats where the date is on my D8

It looks like it has a black case in the background.....in that case (ha ha) it's a later model. Not sure what exact year they went to black but I think all of the 1950s had tweed cases.

The case appears to have the Fender logo on it. The black tolex cases with logo were made from 1968 on. These guitars were made until about 1979, so that would date it somewhere in that range (1968-79). Black tolex cases without logo were made from 1965 to 1967.
