Roland VS-1680 16-track digital recorder, including 1 VS8F-2 effects card and external CD writer. All manuals included, original box.
* 16-tracks, 256 virtual tracks, record up to 8 tracks at one pass.
* Built-in phantom power.
* large LCD display (BIG plus)
* updated to latest OS.
Can work as simply as a tape recorder (stop, start, record, rewind) but includes the usual digital editing capabilities (cut, paste, wave-edit, etc.)
The dual effects card has the usual complement of verbs, delays, chorus, plus mic modeling, amp modeling, etc. I've had pretty good results using the amp models recording steel direct. Each VS8F-2 card has two independent effects processors, and there is an empty slot in the Roland for another card.
The CD Writer is a Plextor, not the Roland, same function way less money. Connects via SCSI cable (included) to back of the unit, allows data backup or burning a mix directly to a CD as an audio file.

Bill, where is Bastrop Texas? I may be interested in the Roland. If it is not too far, I could come to Bastrop and check it out. Mineola is north of Tyler.
Thanks

Bob-
Yes, internal IDE hard drive. Several GigaBytes, I forget how big it is. I've had 5 or 6 songs in various working stages on the drive at one time without problems, but it depends on how many tracks, etc. You just load whatever song you want to work on from the drive.
Since it's IDE, it's supposedly upgradeable to larger size drives, but if you need more HD space you just save completed or in-progress songs to CD (as project data, not audio) and can reload them later as needed.
James-
Bastrop is about 30 miles southeast of Austin, toward Houston. |

The VS1680 is a very nice unit. I bought mine several years ago and have been very happy with it. The learning curve is a bit high but worth the effort in my opinion. What's really nice is that it contains everything one needs to make a very good quality audio recording. Add an external preamp and you can make great recordings. |
