Gretsch Nashville Pro Steel Amp. Excellent condition. Re-capped and serviced. Works perfectly. It always worked perfectly, but the old electrolytic cap's were aging. This is a late evolution of the famous Sho-Bud single channel steel amp based on the classic Kenneth Cain circuit. It uses FET transistors as you'd find in a Webb or Evans. They give a sort of sweet, tube-like tone. It's on casters. It came with it's original Altec ceramic magnet speaker, but that speaker was sounding funny. I've replaced it with the more desirable (original cone) Altec 417 with the alnico magnet.

There were only a small number (about 30) of these amps made so they're pretty rare. The only complaint people have about them is that since they're only 60 watts (just like the Sho-Buds), they can blow if you drive them too hard. You just can't treat it like a 200 watt steel amps. Great for not-so-loud gigs and recording.

I'll try and take some pic's of it so if anyone's interested I can email photos. I hate to let this one go. It's in near new condition and it's about 25 years old. I think it's from around 1975-1980. The reverb sounds excellent too.

I will NOT ship this amp. You can get it from me here in St. Louis any time. I can also have it at the ISGC for pickup.

$500 firm.
