Larry,
I own an R mahogany and a birch laminate (Vintage R). Both are wonderful guitars, very well balanced and beautifully crafted.
The mahogany is a bit mellower sounding than the laminate, which has a bit more "bite".
Paul Beard is great to deal with. You won't regret buying any guitar he builds for you.
Speaking of which..You owe it to yourself to try the Mike Auldridge Signature Model guitar, jointly developed/designed by Paul B and Mike A. Simply spectacular guitars, in 6 and 8 string. No guitar gets shipped without Mike's approval.
They've sold over _SIXTY_ Auldridge guitars in the last four months!
Yeah...I'm a fan of Beard guitars. I own too many of them
Let me know what you end up with.

Thanks for the reply Howard, Ive' only ever been able to play one Beard model before. The birch laminate one.Blew me away.
Not too many pro quality resos' in my neck of the woods(or players)They are harder to find than real country music on the radio!ha. Yes that Mike Auldridge sig. model sure seams as though its got to be a winner! Got to see him play with the" Seldom Seen"a long time ago in D.C. what a player! BTW
I also enjoy your site as well!! Thanks again...now if I can just get momma to part with her beer and egg money....... |

Larry, I've got a beautiful custom Beard solid Mahogany. Paul builds some fantastic instruments! I would agree that mine seems mellower and warmer in tone than the laminated ones I've played. I might be interested in selling it now that I think about as I've got my eye on some other aquisitions... check your mail!
