Plenty of footage of Pete is out there...somewhere. I recall he did a nice appearance on the old Jimmy Dean show, and played a couple of songs. There's not a lot of call for his stuff now, though. You can see him in the old '60s movie "Second Fiddle To A Steel Guitar". It's country corn at it's best, (think: Hee-Haw, with a plot), but it does have some good music with a big lineup of lots of the old stars.
I'm sure that, given enough inquiries, some more of Pete on video will eventually surface. |

Pete can also be seen in movie called Country Music on Broadway that was produced by Audrey Williams among others. He's in the staff band throughout and I think he plays For Pete's Sake too. He can be seen on alot of the old Opry Purina shows from the early 60's too. |

I remember Pete Drake appeared on The Osmond Brothers Show (Donnie Osmond) back in the sixties. He played his crying steel with his voice box and Donnie Osmond even played a tune on pedal steel. The crying steel is probably one of the biggest things to get my attention to steel guitar.

A Merry Xmas to all you SGF members, whom are lovers of Pete Drake's style of playing. I purchased one of Pete's Talking Box Gadgets; used it on special numbers, but not too often. Really enjoyed when Pete put it to good use. In those days, he was one of my favorite steel players. He surely was utilized on many recording sessions there in Nashville. Had a sound all his own.. And he loved C/W Music. May he rest in peace. Would enjoy hearing more comments about this gent.. Thanks.. Bernie
