As we all know, there's so many great steel players around these days. But let's just say, if you could pick three players to see live at a steel show, which 3 ? Each one would play a set and then at the end, all three would play an hour set together. My choices change regularly but today I believe it would probably be Buddy Emmons, Paul Franklin and J.D. Maness. I enjoy all steel players and I'm still a HUGHEY man but I'd like to see the three above also. Thank you to everybody that makes the forum work. It has opened many, many doors for steelers all over the world. Even though from time to time, so of us disagree on certain things, we're all still part of the steel family. We're united by STEEL GUITAR! Happy Holidays to each and everyone of my forum brothers and sisters. God bless each and every one of you and a special THANK YOU to those who helped make CARR'S STEEL GUITAR SHOP a success in 2006. We're getting ready for 07'.

It might take them a few minutes to get their groove locked, but what the hey... I suspect that they wouldn't be playing "The Way to Survive"?

I would choose Buddy Emmons, Paul Franklin and the late Curly Chalker. I never saw Chalker play live but he was a monster player. Today it would be Emmons, Franklin and Jernigan.

Seriously, Reece, Curly, and on the basis of the CD b0b sells by guitarist Jack West and Curvature, Steel guitarist David Phillips.

Others include Al Vescovo, Jim Cohen, Herb Steiner,Susan Alcorn, Jimmy Day, Lloyd Green, Jimmy Crawford, Paul Franklin, Bill Stafford and Joe Goldmark.

And David and Adrienne, I am honored to be on your lists, but I am not anywhere near in the same league as some of the other names mentioned here.

I feel like a trio consisting of B. Emmons, J. Hughey, and Russ Hicks would be worthy of my vote.
