Great write-up about our fellow Forumite Jeff Au Hoy, in Hawaii's "HONOLULU Star Bulletin", about him winning some great recognition and honors for his fabulous steel guitar playing.
He also played with Manny K Fernandez during April and the Hawaii Music Awards program.
The kid really gets around. Congratulations there Jeff.[This message was edited by Ray Montee on 24 May 2004 at 09:37 AM.] |

Here's even more press for Jeff. This was in John Berger's Honolulu Star Bulletin column of May 13th.
"Steel guitarist Jeff Au Hoy, a hit at the 27th Annual Brothers Cazimero May Day Concert, is going from success to success. He'll be this year's special guest performer at the Hawaiian Steel Guitar Association convention in Joliet, IL, in October---an honor well deserved for a guy whose first steel guitar was a beat-up instrument he got in an eBay auction and restored on his own only a few years ago..."
So Jeff... now that you are famous, when does the "rich" part kick in?

Not to be left out, the Honolulu Advertiser had this to say:
OH, LEI: It was a touching moment, when dancer Leina'ala Kalama Heine returned to the Brothers Cazimero fold at Saturday's Lei Day concert at the Waikiki Shell. Her hula on "Nani Hanalei" brought on cheers; then again, the entire evening was loaded with surprise. First, from steel guitarist Jeff Au Hoy, who joined Robert and Roland Cazimero sparingly, performing on the duo's late father William's instrument, which they had given the 1998 Punahou grad, who can really extract succulent steel sounds. He dared to play one of Gabby Pahinui's early signatures, "Pua Mae'ole," and accompanied surprise guest singer Raiatea Helm, who said, "He's good!"
