More evidence why Dicky is my favorite steel guitar player. So much feeling and so tasteful. Merry Christmas Dicky!!!!

Because of this thread, I have gone back and listened to this CD again. If you love "REAL" country music.......this is it in spades. Not only Dicky Overbey and Rick Price on steel, Levi Mullen on guitar, but the wonderful fiddle of Bobby Flores. For me, there is none better.....worth the price of the CD himself.....not to mention Darrell.

Here's a little more on the new Christmas Album. In addition to Dicky (super steeler) and Bobby (super steeler), this cut also has the great Jim Loessberg (super steeler) on drums, Jake Hooker on bass, and Randy Reinhard (super steeler) on piano. I've ordered mine and can hardly wait to get it. But to point out that 4 of the 5 players on this album can only be rated as some of the best steel players around is certainly pertinent. And they say drummers and 'banjer' players are the "only true musicians"?

Wow!! It's a safe bet you'll never hear any of that stuff on "today's country" radio stations!! WSM wouldn't even touch that except on the Midnight Jamboree where they've been guests.

Dicky is a great player....here is a Christmas CD that you need to have. Dicky Overbey, Bobby Flores, Jim Loessberg, Jake Hooker, and Randy Reinhard on this CD. Don't get much better than that!
You can buy it at www.yellowroserecords.com

WOW!! I just received my copy today and popped it into the player immediately (after I fought the darn plastic wrapper for a couple of minutes). Just finished listening to some of the best Christmas music I've ever heard, and accomplished by some guys that know how to play their respective instruments. A tremendous addition to my music collection. Super job guys.

Guys, I have that albumn. According to the liner notes, that's none other than Bobby Flores himself. Not too shabby for a fiddle player!!

Great intros!

Just kills a fan of real country music to compare these with what has become commercial country music--today's FM. Pathetic what they've reduced it to.

I don't think there is a better way to kick off a country song than with a load of steel guitar and fiddles. It will all come back one day. Too good to die.

Ron Page -------- I wouldn't hold my breath if I were you. Today, when Top 40 artist are hot they've got a fiddle and steel player, but when they start to cool off those are the first two things to go. That's been my observation anyway. I went to see Ronnie Millsap a while back and he had drums, bass, lead guitar, and keyboard. What a disappointment.

You can't blame the entertainers. It's the radio stations and country music industry management. The public generally likes what is popular on the radio. If they played Jake Hooker with Bobby and Dicky about every fifteen minutes for a few months....he'd be as popular as Kenny Chesney, etc.... because that's the cool/in thing to like. Every time the industry makes a move to get more people interested in country music, it takes another step closer to rock and roll.

My opinion anyway. Going back to my cage now.
