I am trying to decide what brand/type of volume pedal to buy. It will be my first one, and I do not want to be unhappy with it after I become use to it's capabilities. I notice there are new models out that use no moving parts, and there are 'active', 'passive', and vintage models to consider. What is the best model for the most reasonable price?

I prefer the simple old passive pedal.

I was just sent all the information from an ongoing discussion you folks had on this subject awhile back. It went into great detail. It seemed to conclude that if price is an issue, get something like Goodrich 120. If price is not an issue go with a Hilton. Is that about the bottom line? I know this subject could go on forever.

Gary,
I used a goodrich pot pedal for a long time, and still keep it for a spare, but since using my Hilton for 6-8 months now I find I prefer it over the pot pedal. This is my own preference, yours may vary, but I don't think you can go wrong with a Hilton pedal.

On this Forum, that statement always applies to the question, "Which one?"

The Hilton pedal overdrives and clips very easy. You play two notes hard and punch it, it distorts. Save your money.

Leonard, contact Keith Hilton. My pedal does not distort and I have never heard of one of Keiths Pedals distorting. Maybe something is wrong with yours. Hope this helps.

Let me be the first to recommend the Goodrich LDR potless pedal. I've had it for about 7-8 months and it's never let me down through steady gigging and travel. You don't ever need to worry about a pot going scratchy in it, and it also gives a consistent sound from low volume to high. It really brings out the tone of the guitar.
