I won't repost it here but I found an old hag
album at the salvation army thrift store.
Copied a couple of the pictures.
They are in the test section I won't repost them here to save space.
Check out the guys when they were young.

Herb is correct on the members in the movie that Merle was in. The Movie used the band from the Palamino club in Hollywood at that time to back some of the entertainers.
That was just before I started to work with Merle. Later when I went to work for Merle we hired some of the Palamino band who were some of our friends for a lot of years. Namely Biff Adam, Dennis Hromek, and Bobby Wayne who were the ones who played on all but one of five albums that we recorded for Capitol records. Those albums are out of print, I was hoping that Bear Family might get a hold of them and make them into CDs but I guess instrumental records are not too much in demand in this day and age.
If any one can find them or has them, hang on to them as they are scarce as hens teeth.

Herb, thanks a tons for mentioning 'Don Holiman' on bass. I would have missed that. I worked for him when I moved to Vegas in 80. He was workin the Silver Dollar Saloon when I hooked up with him. Later, when Urban Cowboy movie came out, we left there to work on the strip and good ol Buzz Evans' band took our place. Buzz and I became good friends. |

Great old video. Don (Holloman) was a high school bud of one of my old bosses (Johnny McKnight) and worked with us in a club and a little session work in the late sixties before he moved to Las Vegas. In case anyone doesn't know, the guitar player in the clip (Johnny Davis) is also one helluva steel player. He plays both lead and steel about as well as you can, a very underrated player who should have been better known. Strange to see him playing a Mosrite though, John used to favor Telecasters and Gibson 335 style guitars...........JH in Va.
