Mike's "West Side Story" is as good as it gets, as was "Firebird Suite" . Another plus for the steel guitar. Jody.

The more I listen to West Side Story, the more I get involved in the music and less in the fact that it's done on steel. I could be wrong, but I think this is the idea he's after.
I look forward to the album of European/Spanish music, in which I expect the same thing to happen.

Thanks for the kind words guys. This is another example of music from other genres that is really well suited for our instrument. There is so much great music out there, and so much of it lends itself to the steel. I feel that some of the songs from this soundtrack work so well, it's almost as if they were written specifically for us.

Here are 2 MP3s from the CD.

This is "Maria" http://www.mikeperlowin.com/Track10.mp3

This is "(The Jets Are Gonna Have Their Way) Tonight" Tis song is quinted between the Jets collectively, the Shrks, collectively, Tony, Maria, and Anita. I tried to give each character a different tone, and used 2 different steels, 2 different sounds on the George L 5 position pickup, a match bro, and various stomp boxes. to create more varied colors and textures like Charlie was referring to. http://www.mikeperlowin.com/Track14.mp3

Charlie let the cat out of the bag. I'm working on another CD, and hope to have it finished in a few months.

I hate to let the cat out of the bag before it's ready to.
But it just so happens that Mike's third album is a kind of music I listened to as much as that represented on the first two albums. It's Mike's choice of music that I dig so much, and for that he gains great admiration from me. There's so much good music....
