That's the only word that will come to mind about the Showcase last night. A Round Robin at the end with Lefty Schrage, Jerry Dube, Albert Svenddal, Dave Slattery, Mike Randolph, Bob Anderson, Joe Savage and Mike Christenson on Dobro.

June Randal and Barb Schrage graced us with a touch of class doing the vocals. Awesome!!!!!!!

it doesnt get any better than this!
what a great weekend.
what a fine group of people. here's to George.

I think it was hotter inside than it was outside. and it was 100 plus degrees in Duluth.
lots of fine steel playing.

Thanks for posting the picture Randy. Here's the ID.

Front row: Dave Slattery, Albert Svenddal, Barb Schrage, June Randal, Eric Pederson, Lefty Schrage

Back: Glenn Boppre, Mike Randolph, Joe Savage, Jerry Dube, Dennis Atkins, George Mc Lellan, & Mike Christenson.

It never gets that hot in Duluth. It must have been the heat of those strings.

My appoligies to those who brought this up about the file size. If I had known how to make it smaller, I would have in the first place, it wasn't meant to be that large, I thought I had downsized it.

Thank you Basil for posting it the correct size. I will write down your instructions on how to do it.

nice pic George. we're all focused on Al with his lighting fast licks.

his right hand looked like a spider dancin' on a hot plate.

I dont think that smile left my face the whole weekend.

Albert is a superstar! What a great time. So many great players. Joe Savage's C6 was top notch! Can't wait until the next one. Hats off to Geo and Albert for making this happen! Mike

Thanks for all the kind comments. I know I sure had fun. And nobody can play like Joe Savage. Awesome set Joe although your backup band needs to be fed more. LOL Albert Svenddal

just to clarify, Joe Savage's backup band was 'Band in a Box' and a lap top.
the house band had its own troubles.

I recorded this two day event with my Sony minidisc recorder. I have about four discs holdng about 90% of the event.
the recording varies in quality depending on where I placed the mike. the steels came out good. the vocals are a bit muffled.

question. is there any way to transfer to computer (digital) the data on the mini disc recorder.
I have minidisc player too with line outs. but no USB connector.
the mni disc recorder has a USB port, but it is for input only (thanks alot SONY ).
I would like to get this to CD so I can send it out to everybody.
help. por favore.

Randy, I have a Sharp minidisc recorder/player and I just come out of the ear plug jack into the line in on the back of my computer. I use Goldwave as the recording control and it just works like a champeen.

Gene. that is a pretty neat idea.
question, what special cord do you use.
also, I think a sound card is needed. check my post over at Electronics.
I got some good responses there too.

Im going to be busy.

I use MusicMatch Jukebox (inexpensive software) to capture audio from my Sony Minidisc. Very easy.

Boy, that's a lot of steel guitars in that room!

I'm in the planning mode for Showcase 2007 by taking a pole of those that would like it moved to May to beat the heat of July. If I get enough responce, I will certainly proceed, it was a blast!

I was transporting fire fighters since July 19th up in the Northern part of Minnesota so I haven't had access to a PC to keep up with the goings on on this thread. I deleted the large picture and thanks to Basilh for posting it and making it a better size.

I agree! That is one pretty steel guitar. Plus, since it's a Mullen, I'll bet it plays and sounds just as good as it looks too!
