I recently saw a new CD on ebay that caught my eye: "Swingin' The Jukebox- the Western Swing Tribute To Alan Jackson". No credits, etc.
Doing a Google search, I found it to be another CMH release (they can be pretty spotty, although some have great playing from Rob Ickes, Robby Turner, Randy Kohrs and others). There were no credits listed other than "Performed by the Sidekicks".
I thought I'd take a chance, and imagine my delight to find it has Doug Jernigan up front and slamming on all 12 tracks. Great arrangements, tasty fiddles and guitars, well recorded, and no pesky vocals to get in the way.
Doug is at the top of his game, some sweet E9, and really smoking C6 stuff. Nice LONG solos! What a treat. $5 well spent on my end!
Fans of Western Swing, Alan Jackson tunes, D.J., or just plain great playing, don't miss this one. Coming to a Wal-Mart near you, I'm sure.[This message was edited by Mark van Allen on 20 November 2006 at 04:03 PM.]
