Well, I finally dropped my Shubb-Swallows bar on my hard dining room tile floor. The result was a sizable raised deformation on the sharp edge on one end of the bar, just enough to make pull-offs sound dirty.

I restored the contact surface to the original contour using 1500 grit sandpaper placed on a flat formica surfaced board. I then polished it with 00000 steel wool, but that really wasn't working. The bar is probably harder than the steel wool. Simichrome Polish to the rescue! A little dab, a little elbow grease and voila! The surface of the bar is restored to its original mirror finish.

This amazing product is available at most hardware or auto parts stores. I've been using it since about 1960, when I polished the aluminum alloy engine cases on my old BSA motorcycle.

How'd the tile floor hold up?

Gerald,

The tile floor is well engineered. Very hard, but not very brittle. It's fine.

I should play with Annette (a net), but my wife forbids it.

Rimshot, please.
