Just don't get any better than that.. Hal playing with the Wilburn Bros..is the main reason I took on one of my life's greatest challenges, learning to play the pedal steel.... 38 years later we're still learning each time we sit down at my steel.
What an awesome gift Hal Rugg gave to me.. We sure do miss him.. Please visit his memorial site. www.in-loving-memories.com. Thank you Walter for those fond memories..

Well I certainly enjoyed watching Hal last night on the Wilburn Brothers show. I was in Houston at a relatives house and was able to view the show on a station we don't have here. Outstanding!

The world has truly lost one of the best.

Terrific playing. And I tell you, people always talk about the vintage sounds. I know most like the Emmons push-pull best, but for me, THAT sound on the Sho-bud is The sound.

Walter-Thanks for posting that Video of Hal in the old days. He was just super and he sure got the tone out of that old Sho-Bud .

I was at Jeff Newmans for a week in June 1977 ,(took the teachers course)and Hal Rugg was the guest artist. He had a E6 on the bottom neck. We had quite a discussion on it.(Bless his soul).

I sure liked those old Wilburn Brothers shows. They always gave the steel man a solo....ah yes, those were the days....al
