This song is probably one of the first
songs that Merle Travis made famous. Also played by his son Thom and all the other
great and non great thumbpickers in the
country. A fun tune to fool with.
I present it here on the Standard E9th
tuning and lay it out in two tempos...first at medium and then more in the up-tempo.

Tempo is so important. I have a tendancy to
play slow to get it right sometimes ..but it does not satisfy. If I practice it more
and press the gas pedal it makes all the
difference in the world. As in Blue Bell.
Here is my link and if it does not work email me and I will gladly send the file to anyone interested.

I want to send this out to Gary Ball, Lapwai,
Idaho, one of my Thumbstyle students, who
wrote and requested that I do this song.

Thank you Gary!

Dog gone it Roy... Your inticing me to pull ole Red (my 30 year old MSA PSG) out of the corner. I retired her about 10 Years ago, when I went to dobro and lap. Ha. Lee

I hope you do Lee. You are
a beautiful player and could
do justice to this style.

I am looking forward to hearing
you play some of the Thumb tunes we were working on before going on your trip.

All the best.

Roy
