I ordered a McIntyre dobro pickup system from Stewart MacDonald and just got it today in the mail. I was wondering if anyone out there had installed one themselves or if it was something I should send out to be done. I've never done any acoustic work and have only worked on electric guitars. Thanks in advance.........JH

Which pickup? I installed the McIntyre Feather in a Gibson Hound Dog dobro. It was pretty easy, but I didn't have to do any drilling for the 1/4" phone jack because that was already in the dobro.

That's exactly what I want to do.. It's a McIntyre feather type and I want to install it in a Gibson Hound Dog Dobro. So, if it's pretty easy I guess I'll go ahead and try it. Did you take the Fishman out that came with the Hound Dog or just leave it in? Also, how'd it work after installation? The P/U that came with the Hound Dog just doesn't cut it...JH

I just purchaced a Tut Taylor from FOTW and they are installing the McIntyre for me.
I had put my own Lace pickup in my Regal I had and if you are not careful you can damage the the body when drilling the hole for the connector end pin. It is also very important to know exactly where it will be placed for best response.
Been there, done that, so be careful.
