I have an interesting proposition for some enterprising young (or not so young) steel player.
I have been performing quite a bit with Moot Davis, an amazing honky-tonk singer/songwriter whose debut album was produced by Pete Anderson. In fact, Pete tours and performs with Moot. They are looking to build a non-stop schedule of performances in the U.S. starting late summer (we’re performing in Europe in mid-summer). I will not be able to keep up with that schedule except for some of the bigger appearances/festivals.
Here’s the deal: they are looking for a steel player to go out and be a road musician with Moot. Moot is just starting to build a following so the pay is not particularly good yet. That said, this gig offers an opportunity to be under the tutelage of a Grammy Award-winning producer (and one of the hottest guitarists ever). They are not necessarily looking for hot licks – the parts are fairly simple and specific – so you don’t have to be the hot kid on the block, just someone who is musical, fairly adept on their instrument and can learn parts and play them consistently. A large part of the show is done on C6th – but again, these are not tremendously hard parts (most of the album used non-pedal steel played by Gary Morse). The band is based out of Los Angeles.
If you’re interested, please send an email to info@littledogrecords.com . Please mention your level of playing/experience and whether you are seriously interested in this gig.
Thanks, Boo

Just thought I would bump this up while everyone is in St. Louis at the convention. You never know, you may meet some young steel player at the Convention who's up for a run on the road playing some cool honky-tonk music. Boo |

Boo,
Yeah, I really really wanted this gig a few months ago (in fact I still do) but I just don't know if I can go out on the road with their offer. What was the bassist's name again? I talked to him on the phone in may. I might try to go down and meet the band in L.A. on the 9th. Are you playing that date? Shoot me an email and let me know.

Gee Boo I'd love to do it but it's tough giving up the Gillis thing. (yea I'm back in the frying pan.) We're going to be in Hanover Pa. on Sat Sept 9.
I met Moot a few years ago in NJ. He did a nice job. |

Hey, Nathan -- Thanks for the compliment. It was great meeting you too. I'm sorry we didn't have more time to shoot the breeze ... those gigs with multiple bands are always distracting while you rush on and off stage while trying not to leave anything behind. Please stay in touch -- always great to have steel buddies in the same city.
Ben -- wow, you're back with Gillis! That's pretty wild. Please be sure to tell him I say hello. Hey, is Tiny seeing this? We could have our own steel guitar convention with the players that have gone through his band! ![](http://steelguitarforum.com/smile.gif) |
