Anybody Know Larry Niles James ?

Is there anyone out there who knows of a steeler Larry Niles James ? He is now deceased.
I thought he was from Louisvile Ky but find he was from a different area but I can't learn where.
Any help will be appreciated.

P.S. I wish to learn if he removed the volume and tone controls from his MSA S12 Universal
and the reason why if he did.
