To all you Dads out there, may you have a wonderful, and warm Fathers Day, filled with good times and good memories.
Maybe you would like to share a particularly fun or outrageous Fathers Day story...? |

It was fun for me...yesterday I took my 13-year old daughter on her first canoe trip down a wild and scenic section of the Delaware River near our house...beautiful trip. A friend of her's, and the friend's father also went, first time for both of them, too. I hope it instills a lifelong love of the river, as well as a memory of a good time with her Dad...I think it will. [This message was edited by Pat Burns on 18 June 2006 at 08:22 AM.] |

Only have had 6 of these "days" so far ... but they do seem to get more "intense" ... each year or so ...

I would like to wish my father a happy Father's Day. My dad's name is Jerry Newberry and you on the forum know him as a steel player and Grandpa to Austin. I grew up knowing him as a hard working man who always took time to include me in all his work and fun time. I was a daddie's girl from day one. He fished back then and always took me along. You all know Mom as the fisher person now, but back then she went just so Dad would not have to go alone. I got up around four or five and loved to fish, so she would send me. She always told Dad not to go fast and to be careful with me as we would leave the ramp. I remember telling Dad one day to go fast, "I won't tell Mom". We went fast that day, at least to me it was fast. As I grew, I have so many memories of fishing tournaments with Dad and racing fast boats down on the Arkansas River. Then we would go home and Dad would let me get in the way while he worked on the engine of the boat to make it even faster.
I also remember running out to the car to climb into the seat beside Dad before Mom could get there. Back then she sat right beside Dad and I just had to squeeze in between. Dad always smiled and let me stay. Poor Mom.
I could go on and on about my Dad. He still does so much for me and my family. I now get to watch him do even more with my children than he did with me. He dropped the fishing and took up steel guitar and my son, Austin, has taken over my spot by his side. My daddy, a good, hard working man, who would do anything for his family and friends. Thanks Dad.

I consider myself to be fortunate to be a father of two children. Life definitely changed after Brittany arrived. Four years later John Paul arrived to complete our family. One of the greatest treasures of this life is being a father. No amount of money could buy either one of them, even as much as I would like to have more money. Happy Fathers Day to all the fathers here on this forum. |
