I sometimes hear from Steve. He still reads the Forum, but has been too busy to get involved in discussions.

I've never seen an astronaut on two consecutive flights. On the other hand, experienced EVA specialists are on a short list so we'll see Steve fly again before long. |

Steve always wants to get out when the shuttle is flying, he comes up with excuses to "space walk", like pulling the insulation out from between the tiles, I think he likes the view!
He also spends some time flying the T-38 "Talon", along with owning two very nice airplanes himself on a personal level.
Yea, poor guy, bet he's bored! Plays steel just to fill a void in his otherwise uneventful life! (*heavey giggles here)
A nicer guy there isn't!!!!!!!

Bobbster,,
Why in the world would some one want to fly around in space, walk around out side the ship, see the earth from that view when he could stay home and play a steel guitar??? LOL..
Isn't it neat, the people we have on this Forum??

The closest I'm gonna come to the thrill of a shuttle ride is driving I95 from Florence S.C. to Fredericksburg VA. |

At NASA, we're all getting pretty excited about this upcoming mission, so I really appreciate y'all's support. I never cease to be amazed at all the good folks in the steel community.
I WISH I were on this mission too, but we don't get to fly that often. I got to fly 3 times in 8 years and that's doing pretty good in our shop.
But I AM getting some time to play steel and some other things too. I think probably the only thing I have done that is more difficult than learning to play steel is learning to speak Russian. They're both rewarding, but believe me, steel is more fun to learn!
See you in St. Louis, my friends!

Not sure how you do that flying stuff. That's way to high for me but I am sure it is one heck of a view (if I would open my eyes)!
Be sure to stop by and say hello. I really enjoyed meeting and talking with you last year.

If you keep on going pretty soon learning Russian will seem like a walk in the park compared to having to learn Martian |
