This tune was written and recorded by Billy Bowman and is called "Midnight In Old Amarillo" I believe he was the first to record it.

One of my favorites. I believe I first heard it by Bob Wills. Both those versions are very good. As to the second song, it sounds very familiar, but I can't quite remember what it is.

Yes Midnight In Old Amarillo
(Armadillo ) Just kidding

One of the sweetest versions I have heard is
Herb Remington and Cindy Cashdollar on Cindy's Cd.
Worth the price of admision just for this tune,
but the whole album is killer.
And mostly lapsteel or acoustic.

Bas, I KNOW you would love it.
Just order it and then thank me..

David, Cindy and Herb's version is sweet indeed. There's another twin steel take of "Midnight In Amarillo" on "Son Of 'No Peddlers Allowed'"-- Tom Morrell and Bill Braddy are the players, and it's sublime. Very cool tune.

So the first tune is "Midnight In Amarillo" GOOD that's settled and for those who asked , that version is Pat, myself and the waikiki Islanders from the album Live at the Castaways Vol. 2 http://www.waikiki-islanders.com/html/live_2.html

As for the second tune "Country Startime" I'm convinced that I stole the middle section from someone/somewhere, but I just can't remember.

That tune was originally a 30 second ident for a Television Series in Ireland Called Country Startime .
I was asked to extend it to full length and it ended up on one of my later albums.
The tune's publishing is jointly mine and Senator Paschal Mooney & Donie Cassidy TD (Green Grass Music and CMR Records), and as it was used to introduce the show and play out and in from each commercial break as well as closing the show, the royalties from the 13 week series were "Interesting", as were the ones when the show was repeated the following year and again 5 years later.

I just feel I should make amends and send the ORIGINAL writer some contribution.
The name Wally Haynes seems to have an association in my mind with this melody.
